Alana Clayton - Speech-Language Pathologist
Alana is a registered Speech-Language Pathologist at Pillars of Wellness with more than 10 years of experience working across the continuum of care (critical care, acute medicine, inpatient rehabilitation, and complex continuing care) as well as in outpatient neuro-rehabilitation and dysphagia clinics. She has worked in healthcare in Alberta, Texas, and Ontario.
Alana is passionate about working with adults with a variety of neurological conditions including traumatic brain injury, stroke, and progressive brain disease. She believes in working together with the client to develop and implement evidence-based, functional treatment care plans that maximize client recovery and facilitate return to activities that are meaningful to each client.
Alana is registered with the College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists of Ontario (CASLPO), a member of Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC), and a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She attained a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Alberta.
Alana has completed specialized dysphagia training. She is a Registered MBSImPTM© Clinician and has completed Basic FEES® Training for S-LPs. Furthermore, Alana is also a SPEAK OUT!® provider. This program focuses on preserving the voices of individuals with Parkinson’s disease and Parkinson-plus syndromes.
She has also completed additional coursework and certifications in the areas of aphasia, apraxia of speech, and cognitive-communication.
Alana enjoys travel and camping adventures with her husband and two young children.
