Marra-Sheldon-Psychotherapist

Marra is a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist with a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Waterloo and a Master's degree from the University of Toronto. She is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, as well as the Ontario Association of Social Workers.

Marra has dedicated her work to helping others throughout different organizations in support of individuals with anxiety, depression, and trauma experience but also individuals who are going through grief, family difficulties and sexual abuse.

Marra is also experienced in working with couples or marriage counselling, to support them in achieving their short and long-term goals.

As a therapist, she developed her skills by incorporating different modalities such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialect Behavior Therapy and IPT (interpersonal therapy) and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique).

Interpersonal therapy, also known as IPT, is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on treating symptoms by enhancing interpersonal relationships. It aims to resolve current difficulties and ties rather than childhood or developmental issues.

The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a therapy for physical pain and emotional distress.  This modality has been found to be particularly effective for couples therapy or marriage counselling.

Marra firmly believes in engaging in a collaborative, compassionate, and respectful way to create the conditions required for individuals and couples to move towards wholeness.

If you wish to book an appointment with Marra, feel free to contact us. She offers 15 minutes free consultation as well.
