Miriam Farooqi is a registered Social Worker who holds a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work from McMaster University.

Miriam is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSW/SSW) and the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). Miriam completed her post-graduate certification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from Wilfred Laurier University and is experienced in other treatment modalities such as Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Interpersonal Psychotherapy.

Miriam has multiple years of experience working with families, couples and individuals in developing their capacity to resolve challenges and barriers related to depression, anxiety, personality disorders, substance misuse, trauma, intimate partner violence, sexual violence and grief and loss.

Miriam focuses on providing trauma-informed care throughout all treatment modalities. She firmly believes that recognizing and integrating knowledge about trauma and re-traumatization is crucial in order to best understand client experiences and provide effective care.

Miriam believes strongly in engaging with clients from a strength-based approach, acknowledging the inherent resilience and capacity of individuals while providing support in a caring, non-judgmental and empathetic manner.
