What is Chiropractic care?
Chiropractic care focus on the neuro-musculoskeletal system. It is an essential part to treat numerous chronic issues, from injury, disease or damage to these areas. To name a few, our Burlington chiropractor can treat:
- Lower back pain
- Car accident injuries
- Migraine headaches
- Herniated disc
- Sciatic nerve
- Sports injuries
- Chronic pain
- Postural strains
- Joint pain
- Spinal stenosis
What to expect on your first visit?
The initial visit with our Burlington chiropractor consists of an initial assessment in which the practitioner obtains a complete health history.
This will be followed by a comprehensive evaluation directed towards assessing symptoms and examining muscle/joint bio-mechanics and gait. The chiropractor also makes use of neurological and orthopedic assessment tools and other diagnostic instruments in order to determine a working diagnosis.
Further investigations, including diagnostic imaging studies may be required in order to provide a definitive diagnosis. Then a detailed treatment plan will be developed in order to best address underlying symptoms, including pain and mobility issues, and facilitate improved functioning. Techniques Typically Used by Chiropractic Doctors include the following:
- Spinal and/or joint manipulation (adjustments)
- Soft tissue treatment/myofascial release techniques
- Active Release Techniques (ART) – Spine
- Rehabilitative exercise program design, Core strength training
- Therapeutic modalities (TENS, IFC, Ultrasound, Laser, Heat/ice)
- Stability training
- PNF stretching
- Kinesiotaping, athletic taping
It must be noted, however, that each individual’s issues are unique and that techniques employed will be specific to the client’s particular needs and issues.
It is also important to note that the body does not exist in a vacuum. In consideration of this, programming and treatment modalities may be adjusted, based on changes in functioning and pain level. With the ultimate goal of providing more intense programming to facilitate improved health and functioning.
Our Burlington Chiropractor can also treat children, provide orthotics, and compression socks. Dr. Amrit Matharu is fully licensed and in good standing with the College of Chiropractors in Ontario. Beyond chiropractic services, she is also trained with acupuncture.
If you wish to learn more about different injuries or illness, we have a patient education section. It goes from the sciatic nerve, lower back pain to spinal stenosis and much more…
