Naturopathy in Burlington

Many people are not familiar with the concept of Naturopathic Medicine. For more than 100 years, Western Medicine has moved towards a medical model that has become increasingly reliant on surgery and medication management to address illness and injuries. These methods, though generally beneficial, are not always effective. Our Naturopathic Doctor employs alternative methods, which in conjunction with other modalities, can be effective in promoting health and recovery from injury and disease while having the side benefit of optimizing function. In essence, the Naturopathic Doctor employs techniques that not only identify the root cause of disease but also promote health and healing through the use of natural therapies.

Naturopathic Doctors receive comprehensive training and are committed towards disease prevention. Such practitioners are more than qualified to provide education to individuals about how to achieve optimal health and wellness. The Naturopathic Doctor identifies the root cause of an issue and then provides treatment to return balance the the body.

It is the perspective of the Naturopathic Doctor that symptoms are attributable to a host of factors including inadequate nutritional intake, vitamin deficiencies, the presence of environmental factors, toxicity, undue stress or the effects of injury. The Naturopathic Doctor takes all of these factors, including the person as a whole, into account when diagnosing a condition and developing an appropriate plan of action.
They can specialized in different areas such as homeopathy, acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine, fertility, woman’s health, men’s health, IV therapy and more.

The Naturopathic Doctor provides treatment aimed at the following:

  • Removing obstacles and providing treatment allowing the body to heal through natural means
  • Treating the cause of disease not just symptoms
  • Using gentle and non-invasive methods to eliminate or at least significantly reduce side effects
  • Serving as a teacher and guide to educate the patient of their condition and provide strategies on how to best address the disease and optimize functioning
  • Treating the person as an integrated whole and not just as a constellation of symptoms

Positive outcomes stemming from naturopathic interventions include the following:

  • Increasing energy
  • Reducing body fat and weight
  • Resolving digestion issues
  • Improving mood and cognitive efficiency
  • Balancing hormone levels
  • Decreasing stress and anxiety
  • Reducing inflammation leading to pain
  • Boosting the body’s natural immune functioning
