Pediatric Physiotherapy in Burlington
What is Pediatric Physiotherapy?
Pillars of Wellness, located in Burlington, Aldershot, specializes in pediatric physiotherapy treatment for children and youth (from birth to 25 years of age) who have experienced injuries or challenges that limit their ability to move. Physiotherapy can work to prevent further injury and pain as part of a wider rehabilitation program.
At our clinic in Burlington, pediatric physiotherapy is administered in two ways:
One-on-one therapy: This involves a comprehensive assessment of your child’s movement and posture. It includes looking at strength, gait, flexibility, balance, coordination, and sensory processing. Further treatment can include manual therapy, hands-on facilitation, education, prescribing a home exercise program, or referrals to other specialists. With a variety of healthcare professionals available at Pillars of Wellness, the entirety of your child’s treatment can take place under one roof.
Group physical therapy classes: Geared towards infants, children, and young adults who experience developmental delays and congenital disorders, these classes focus on gross motor skill development, and balance and stretching for youth in four development stages (from birth to 25 years old). The infant class teaches productive play, which is recommended for typically developing babies and their parents.
Each program last between 4 to 6 weeks - One class per week. Please contact us to book your classes. The fee per session and per child (1 hour) is $35. You can get reimbursement from your extended health insurance under physiotherapy.
Option 1 - Play with Purpose 1.0 Group Class: This class is designated for children who are working on tummy time, sitting, crawling, pull-to-stand, cruising and all the transitions in between those milestones!
Option 2 - Play with Purpose 2.0 Group Class: This class is designated for children that are working on standing on their own, walking (on their own, or with a push toy), and are working on navigating more challenging terrain (changes in surface, small steps up/down, climbing). This class will also introduce strengthening ideas to enhance their ability to squat, get up from the floor, and perform basic ball skills (throwing, catching and kicking).

Pediatric Physiotherapy at our Clinic in Burlington
The advantage of visiting a multidisciplinary clinic like Pillars of Wellness lies in our integrative care approach. That means your child can benefit from other types of therapy when combined with the current treatment. In many cases, this can maximize health and speed of recovery.
We work closely with family members, caregivers, teachers, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to develop goals suited to your child’s function and your family’s needs. This can help improve your child’s participation in daily activities.
Infants, toddlers, and young children being treated with physiotherapy likely will not understand the function of therapy. That’s why our pediatric physiotherapy sessions use functional play and excitement to help your child have fun while reaching therapy goals.
Youth and adolescents who have suffered an injury can be more adept at understanding their treatment. Our pediatric physiotherapist will treat them while educating them about their rehabilitation process, helping them understand the healing their body is going through.
